Conjugated Materials: Conjugated oligomers and polymers are well explored in organic electronic devices such as OFET, OPV and OLED. Recently polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are entering in this area as an emergent class of materials due to its unique electronic and optical properties. Incorporation of heteroatoms (B, N and P) in conjugated systema is very promising on material aspects because their optical and electrochemical properties can be finely tuned by doping different heteroatoms.
Photochemical Hydrogen generation and carbon dioxide reduction: Due to limited fossil fuel we have to search for new renewable energy sources. DSSC, OPV and all other methods can convert solar energy to electrical energy. But only around 20% of total energy consumption is consumed as electrical energy. Most energy is consumed as fuels so storing solar energy in terms of fuels will be a nice approach to solve the energy crisis. So the photochemical generation of hydrogen from earth abundant source water comes into play because hydrogen can be the alternative green fuel.
Non-bonding interaction mediated supramolecular assembly: Study of the microscopic weak intra and inter-molecular interaction in small oligomers are very important to understand the macroscopic aspect of bulk properties in case of polymeric structure. This structural interaction understanding can be beneficial for tuning the optical and electronic properties of the materials.
Dyes and Sensors: I have experience in designing sensor molecules for environmental hazards like cyanide and heavy metal ions. Also I have demonstrated triphenylamine based organic fluorophore for detection of nitroaromatics.
